Joint Communication from St. John’s School,
Trinity Lutheran School, and
Wisconsin Valley Lutheran High School

St. John’s School – Easton and Wisconsin Valley Lutheran High School (WVLHS) are each prepared to submit a letter of intent to participate in the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP, aka “School Choice”) in the 2019-20 school year. Trinity, St. John’s and WVLHS governing bodies have all approved for Trinity to sponsor the schools into the program. Please join us in celebrating this exciting partnership that will, with God’s help, grow our Christian community through the growth of our schools.
Participation in the WPCP has offered Trinity Lutheran School the opportunity to witness to many children over the past 3 years, as well as allowed families the opportunity to enroll in a Christ-centered education with no tuition cost to the families. 2018-19 is Trinity’s 4th year in the program. Trinity has an opportunity to sponsor other schools into the program, creating access to resources that are already in place in a successful program.
Sponsorship was found to pose relatively low risk to Trinity. There is no financial commitment to sponsorship. Sponsorship will involve sharing of resources, including Boards working together and Trinity providing oversight for the period of sponsorship. During the period of sponsorship, each school and it’s Advisory Board will be responsible for its own budget, policy and procedures, audit process, WPCP paperwork, etc. Following the period of sponsorship (determined by the enrolling school to be either 1 or 2 years), each school will maintain its own governance.
The most notable benefits to sponsorship are as follows:
• The opportunity for St. John, Trinity and WVLHS to work together to share the Good News of Jesus Christ
• The opportunity for children benefiting from the WPCP program at Trinity and St. John to choose to continue a parochial school education at WVLHS without the cost of tuition
• New schools enrolling into the program will be able to let children apply for enrollment as WPCP participants at any grade level for the period of sponsorship (current enrollment without sponsorship is limited to grades 4K, K, 1st, for Elementary Schools and 9th grade for High Schools)
• Access to WPCP required elements already in place at a successful program
• A small stipend, paid from School Choice Wisconsin, to the sponsoring school for each school it sponsors ($2500/ sponsored school)
