St. John Lutheran School Preschool/K4 program
WELCOME to St. John Preschool!
We are glad to have this opportunity to share in the education of your child. St. John Preschool provides a student-oriented program in a Christian environment.
Children from 3-5 years of age (children must be 3 by September 1st), of any race, color, religious, national or ethnic origin are admitted.
We are located on the first floor, of the new building, at E10723 County Road Z, Wausau, Wisconsin.
Our school is a Christian pre-school and the broad Christian concepts that guide our teaching about God and relationships with others are listed Here.
The school year is divided into two semesters. Our school calendar corresponds approximately with the D.C. Everest District calendar. Please listen to local radio & T.V. stations for school cancellations due to weather. If there is a 1 or 2 hour school delay due to bad weather, Preschool will start at the normal scheduled time.
We have 1/2 day sessions for preschool, 8:00 to 11:00 A.M. and P.M Classes are from 12:00-2:45 PM. We are flexable, and combinations of A.M. classes and P.M. classes can be arranged. Class size is usually about 10 children.
There is a 15 minute grace period after class ends to pick up your child.
Extended Care rates will be charged for any child who is picked up later than 15 minutes after class.
Please call the school if you will be late so we may reassure your child.
Our program is organized to include elements that will encourage self-respect, social interaction, self-expression, large and small muscle development, intellectual growth and sound Christian values.
Instruction is organized thematically so as to maximize a child’s understanding and interest.
The following is an approximate schedule. Please keep in mind that this may change for various reasons. It is only meant to give you an idea of what is covered during the class time
8:00 - 8:30 Arrival and Free Choice Time
8:30 - 9:00 Opening Circle Time (large group)
9:00 - 9:45 Centers (small group / individual)
9:45 - 10:00 Snack
10:00 - 10:15 Jesus Time
10:15 - 10:45 Centers (small group / individual)
10:45 - 11:00 Closing Circle Time (large group)
ON WEDNESDAYS WE ATTEND CHAPEL WITH THE WHOLE SCHOOL AT 8:30-9:15.
Children are given envelopes to be used for their mission projects chosen for the year. Chapel Services are open to all parents, grandparents and congregational members.
Transportation, Parking, Pickup & Dropoff
Transportation is the responsibility of the parent. Children are to be BROUGHT INTO THE CLASSROOM. Because the teacher's prep time is before and after class (and may involve being out of the classroom), children should not be brought to the classroom earlier than ten minutes before class begins, and should be picked up promptly at the end of the class.
P.T.L. and $CRIP
Upon enrollment parents are automatically enrolled in the P.T.L. program of the school. You are not required, but are encouraged to take an active part. Watch the school newsletters which are sent home on Wednesdays and Thursdays for more information.
The $crip program is one of the main school fund-raisers for the year. You are invited to take part in this program. There is nothing to sell. You simply purchase a gift card to use at a local business, (gasoline, groceries, etc…), and the school receives a certain percent donated by the business. The other wonderful thing about using $crip is that you can earn credit toward your child’s tuition. Contact the school office for more information.

Special field trips may be arranged throughout the school year to enhance the educational experience of the child. Parents may be asked to help supervise and/or drive the children, or we may take a school bus.
A permission slip must be signed for each field trip. These slips will be sent home informing you of the field trip, the cost and how we will be transporting the children.
